The short version
- Cancel any time. No fee, no phone call, no retention maze. Access continues to the end of the period you paid for.
- 14-day refund window on your first payment for a plan, no reason needed.
- No auto-converting trials. We do not take money you did not knowingly agree to.
- Free plan stays free. Cancelling drops you back to it — your notes stay.
This policy forms part of the Terms of Service.
Who takes your payment
Paddle.com Market Ltd acts as our Merchant of Record. It is the seller of record: it charges your card, issues the invoice, collects any VAT or GST, and processes refunds. Your bank statement will show a Paddle reference rather than DumpNotes.
We never see or store your card details. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s buyer terms. Where Paddle’s own buyer protections are more generous than this policy, those apply.
How billing works
- Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly depending on what you chose. Yearly plans are charged as a single payment for the full year.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
- Paddle emails a receipt for every charge. If you are not receiving them, check the address on your account.
- Prices are shown in your local currency where Paddle supports it, and tax — VAT, GST, sales tax or local equivalent — is calculated from your billing country and shown before you confirm.
- We give at least 30 days’ notice before a price increase takes effect on a renewal. You can cancel before then and will not be charged the new price.
Cancelling
Cancel from Settings → Subscription in the app, or from the management link in any Paddle receipt email. If neither works, email admin@dumpnotes.app from your account address and we will cancel it for you.
What happens next:
- You are not charged again.
- Paid features remain available until the end of the period you already paid for — we do not cut you off mid-period.
- After that, the account reverts to the free plan and free-plan allowances.
- Your notes are not deleted by cancelling. They stay in your account.
- If your content exceeds a free-plan limit, it remains readable and exportable; you may not be able to add more until you are back under the limit.
Refunds
The 14-day window
Request a refund within 14 days of your first payment for a plan and we will refund it in full, no reason required. Ask and it is done — we do not interrogate you about it.
Beyond the window
Renewals are generally non-refundable, because you have had the service for the period. But we would rather be fair than technically correct, and we will normally refund or credit where:
- you were charged for a renewal you did not intend and had not used the period;
- a prolonged outage or a significant defect meaningfully prevented you using the app;
- we materially reduced what your plan includes, or discontinued the Service;
- you were double-charged, or charged after cancelling;
- an unauthorised person used your payment method.
For yearly plans cancelled part-way through for one of the reasons above, we refund pro-rata for the unused whole months.
When we will not refund
- Where the account was terminated for a serious breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.
- Repeated refund requests across successive periods for the same plan.
- Amounts already refunded, charged back, or subject to a dispute you opened with your bank.
Timing and method
Approved refunds are issued by Paddle to the original payment method. Paddle typically processes within 3–5 business days; your bank may take a further 5–10 business days to show it. Refunds are made in the currency charged; we are not responsible for exchange rate movement or your bank’s fees.
Statutory withdrawal rights
If you are a consumer in the EEA or the UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving a reason.
Because you get immediate access to a digital service, you are asked at checkout to agree that supply begins straight away, which means you may lose that statutory right once supply begins. This does not matter in practice — our 14-day refund window above gives you the same outcome voluntarily, and we will not use the waiver to refuse a good-faith refund inside that window.
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. Where that law gives you a longer cooling-off period or a stronger remedy than this policy, that law applies.
Upgrades, downgrades and plan changes
- Upgrading takes effect immediately. Paddle charges the difference, pro-rated for the remainder of the current period.
- Downgrading takes effect at the next renewal. You keep the higher plan until then, and we do not refund the difference for the current period.
- Switching monthly to yearly starts a new yearly period; unused monthly time is credited.
- Seat changes on a team plan are pro-rated: added seats are charged immediately, removed seats credit at the next renewal.
Failed payments
If a renewal fails — expired card, insufficient funds, a bank block — Paddle retries over several days and emails you. During that time your paid features stay active.
If payment still has not succeeded after the retry period, the subscription is cancelled and the account reverts to the free plan. Nothing is deleted. Updating your card and re-subscribing restores paid features immediately.
Chargebacks
If you do not recognise a charge or think it is wrong, email us first. We can almost always resolve it faster than your bank can, and a refund from us arrives sooner than a chargeback.
A chargeback filed without contacting us first may result in immediate suspension of the account while the dispute is investigated, since we have to treat the charge as contested. We respond to chargeback claims with the account and usage records relevant to the disputed charge. Once a chargeback is resolved in your favour we will not additionally refund the same amount.
What happens to your data
Cancelling a subscription does not delete anything. Your notes, notebooks, events and messages stay in your account on the free plan, and you can export them at any time.
Deleting your account is different and permanent — see the retention schedule. Deleting an account does not by itself trigger a refund; ask for the refund separately, before or at the same time.
How to request a refund
- Email admin@dumpnotes.app from the address on your account.
- Include the Paddle order or receipt number if you have it, and the approximate date of the charge.
- Say what you would like — full refund, pro-rata refund, or credit.
We acknowledge within 2 business days and decide within 5. If we decline, we explain why and you can appeal by replying. You may also request a refund directly through Paddle’s buyer support.
