Scope
This policy applies to everything you do with DumpNotes — the web app, the desktop app, our APIs, and any content you create, upload, share or send through it. It applies to you and to anyone you let use your account.
It is incorporated into the Terms of Service. Terms defined there have the same meaning here.
The underlying principle
Do not use DumpNotes to break the law, to hurt people, to take other people’s things, or to damage the Service. Almost everything below follows from that. If something is not listed but obviously violates the spirit of it, assume it is prohibited and ask us if you are unsure.
Prohibited content
Do not create, store, upload, share or transmit content that:
- Sexually exploits or endangers children in any form. This is an absolute prohibition with zero tolerance. We will terminate the account immediately, preserve evidence, and report to the relevant authorities.
- Is non-consensual intimate imagery, or sexual content involving anyone who has not consented to its creation or distribution.
- Incites or threatens violence, promotes terrorism or violent extremism, or glorifies mass violence.
- Harasses, bullies, stalks or threatens a specific person, or coordinates others to do so.
- Promotes hatred or discrimination against people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or any other protected characteristic.
- Infringes intellectual property — copyrighted work, trade marks or trade secrets you have no right to use or distribute. See the Copyright & DMCA Policy.
- Discloses others’ private information without permission — doxxing, leaked identity documents, financial records, medical records, private contact details.
- Provides instructions for serious harm — weapons, explosives, or the synthesis of dangerous biological, chemical or radiological agents.
- Is malware, or is designed to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to any system.
- Facilitates fraud — phishing kits, stolen credentials, carding material, counterfeit documents.
- Is otherwise illegal where you are, where we are, or where our providers operate.
Prohibited conduct
- Impersonating another person, a business, or DumpNotes itself.
- Sending unsolicited bulk messages, chain messages, or repeated friend requests to people who have declined.
- Contacting a user who has blocked you, including through a second account.
- Creating accounts to evade a suspension or termination.
- Registering usernames in bulk, squatting on names, or registering a name to sell it.
- Sharing your account, or reselling, sublicensing or renting access to the Service.
- Using the Service to build or train a competing product, or to benchmark it for publication without our written consent.
- Misrepresenting your identity or age to gain access.
AI-specific restrictions
The AI features exist to organise your own thinking. Do not use them to:
- generate any content prohibited by section 3;
- impersonate a real person, or generate content falsely attributed to a real person or organisation;
- produce disinformation intended to deceive — fake news, fabricated quotes, manufactured evidence;
- generate content that a reasonable person would rely on as professional medical, legal or financial advice, and then present it as such;
- reverse-engineer, distil, extract or replicate the underlying model, or attempt to recover its prompts or weights;
- jailbreak or circumvent the safety measures of the model or of the Service;
- proxy, resell or otherwise expose AI access to third parties — the allowance on your account is for your own use;
- run automated bulk processing designed to consume allowance rather than to use the product.
Use of AI features is also subject to our AI provider’s policies, and a violation of those policies is a violation of this one. Note also that submitting AI output as your own academic or professional work may breach your institution’s rules — see the Terms.
Technical restrictions
- Do not attempt to access data belonging to another account, or probe, scan or test the security of the Service without our written permission. Good-faith security research is welcome under our disclosure policy.
- Do not attempt to defeat rate limits or usage allowances — including by rotating accounts, spoofing IPs, or automating request patterns.
- Do not scrape or crawl the Service, or access it through automated means other than interfaces we provide for that purpose.
- Do not overload, flood or denial-of-service the Service or its infrastructure providers.
- Do not reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the Service, except where local law grants a right that cannot be contracted away.
- Do not remove, disable or interfere with security features, access controls or usage metering.
- Do not use the Service as a general-purpose file host, a content delivery network, or a backup target for unrelated data.
Private notes vs shared content
We do not read your private notes, and we do not proactively scan them for policy violations. Enforcement is complaint-driven and focuses on content that has been shared, sent to another user, or reported to us — plus the narrow categories where the law requires action regardless.
That is a description of how we operate, not a promise never to act. If we receive a valid legal order, or credible evidence of the content in section 3’s first bullet, we will act.
Reporting a violation
Email admin@dumpnotes.app with: what you saw, where (username, message, or shared note), when, and any evidence such as a screenshot. If you are the subject of the content, say so.
We acknowledge reports within 2 business days and prioritise by severity. Child safety and credible threats of violence are handled immediately. We keep the reporter’s identity confidential from the reported user unless disclosure is legally required.
How we enforce
Our response is proportionate to what happened:
- Notice — for a first, minor or ambiguous issue, we explain the problem and ask you to fix it.
- Removal or restriction — we may remove specific content, revoke sharing, reset a username, or limit a feature.
- Suspension — temporary loss of access while we investigate or until the issue is resolved.
- Termination — for serious or repeated violations. No refund is due where termination follows a serious violation.
- Referral — where content is criminal, we report it to the appropriate authority and preserve the relevant evidence.
We skip straight to suspension or termination where there is a risk of immediate harm, an active attack, or child sexual exploitation material.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, reply to the enforcement email or write to admin@dumpnotes.app within 30 days, explaining why. A different person reviews the appeal where practicable, and we respond within 14 days. Where an action was mistaken, we reverse it and restore access. Appeals are not available for confirmed child safety violations.
Before any termination that permanently removes access, we will normally give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data, unless doing so would itself be unlawful or harmful.
